I've lost my mind

Today was an exciting day. MJ suggested we have pancakes for lunch and he helped me make them. Then we went to the park and he decided that the big slide which was scary a bit yesterday was ok today. He'd get to the top and say "It's okay Mommy". I helped him to share and take turns with other kids on the playground and he was very open and talking with some new kids, so that was fun. Two points for Mom! Unfotunately, I lost both of those points by the end of the day.

I thought we'd do a quick grocery shopping and pick up ribbon for my RE class craft after dinner. But I thought it would be fun to back up right into a car in the parking lot. As I was backing up I was thinking to myself how you don't often just back up straight b/c there's usually someone behind you, funny that no one is behind me... crunch. Well, a girl was in the car texting some friends so she called her dad. I was kind of lucky someone was there or I'd feel guilty and have to wait for whomever I hit to finish shopping. There was no real damage, maybe a scratch on each of our cars, so we just let it go. Surely that would be all the fun we'd have tonight. NOPE! I decided to fill up on gas as we were getting low, and somehow I managed to lock the car and then let the door shut behind me with the keys inside. I turned casually to find my new situation and was in a bit of shock. The door hadn't completley shut so there was a small crack, but it was shut enough that the lock was working. I got one of the attendants at the Shell to see if he could help, but he couldn't. While we were trying a very nice man came over (I'm guessing he was a fireman or something) and he suggested he'd call Station 6 or something and get someone over to help. I borrowed his phone to call Mario, who got our neighbor's number. I called the neighbor (who has a key to our house where more of our Odyssey keys are) but they weren't home. So the nice man called Station 6, they were out on a call. So he said he'd have to call 911. Joey slept for most of this but by this time had woken up. MJ was a trooper for awhile, he was laughing at me and shaking his head, but after Joey started crying he got nervous. While waiting for the ambulance to come (MJ would have loved that) the guy from the Shell got a long wire and was able to unlock the car manually. Ahhhh... can anything more happen tonight? Oh, and I'd like to add that there are some really nice people in this world.

Above is a picture of MJ and his cousin Peter at the park on Wednesday. Below is Joey lounging out on the couch. He's got this suave look about him.

It's a beautiful day!

Today was totally beautiful so we definitely spent time outside... I was also inspired to accomplish a lot of things (it seems Spring brings new chores to mind). I woke up, paid bills and other mail stuff, took the boys to Story time at the library which we haven't been to in awhile due to traveling, then we went to the park, ate lunch and naptime. I then made a few calls for appointments and played with Joey (who had a 3 1/2 hour morning nap). When MJ woke up we read our new library books (again) then headed outside to pull weeds, sweep porch, mow front lawn, vaccuum out the minivan, and wash the minivan. MJ truly enjoyed it. I was prepared with a bathing suit for him and towel by the door so we could get inside. What I wasn't prepared for was that he would figure out how to use the squirter on the hose. He accidentally got me a few times, but I was also worried for neighbors and random passersby who might get hit. Fortunately, we were the only ones who got wet. I was a bit tired after all of this, but had a nice sense of accomplishment. Still, when we had finished dinner I decided I just had to get to Goodyear to have the emissions inspection completed on the Odyssey.

Here are a few pictures from the park today. MJ played on some new equiptment...the space ship and the big "white slide" as he calls it. Normally, that particularly 3 tiered climbing thing is for kids over 6 (or maybe over 8) but not my boy. I tried to keep him off of it, but after inspecting more closely I figured that there was no place to fall out on the top level (so long as you made it up this ladder ok). And he did. He really likes the big slides off of this one, and who could blame him? I have to accept certain things about MJ, one being his adventerous spirit. Joey was there too, but sleeping as I mentioned earlier. So the last picture is just a random picture of Joey playing with Mario in the hotel at ND. I thought it was cute.

Sunday fun

I didn't think I'd be one to dress my kids in matching outfits. However, after I dressed Joey, I realized MJ had a shirt that would be kinda cute with it, so here we go.

Mario has been working way too hard with this current project. He's been doing 80 hours a week since March and this week I think it was closer to 90-100. He had to work this weekend too, but we took breaks and tried to have some fun. This is them hanging out in the cool for that daddy built.
Joey really likes playing with Daddy.
