Both MJ and Joey continue to feel better. We went to our final check up on the situation today. They have been quite happy and fine (except for a bit of coughing at night from Joey), but still the doctors wanted me to bring them back and check them out. I only made an appointment for Joey, but she checked MJ anyway. Did we tell you that Joey was positive for RSV? While he didn't seem to have the worst case of it (he never had a high fever, terrible runny nose, etc) he had a nasty cough, had trouble sleeping a few nights, and was wheezing a little bit. Combine that with MJ's high fever and lethargy, they made for a pretty nice case of RSV. It'll be nice to actually take the boys out of the house pretty soon.
In the meantime, they've been having fun at home. Joey is amazed that he can stand and just thinks it's the coolest thing. He starts to laugh at himself and then gracefully plops to the ground. And he's doing so great with stairs. It is so cool to watch him approach the stairs and then back down. I won't trust him to do it consistently without supervision yet, but he's got the idea.
MJ is having so much fun spelling! His new Word Whammer is just so cool and he can spell 3 letter words. We've been testing him lately to see if he can also hear the sounds in words (What sound do you hear at the beginning of the word "dog"?) and he's pretty good at it. He's a champ at taking medicine and by the last 2 days of it was telling us that pink medicine is yummy and then he gets candy after he drinks it all. I had to give them both this really nasty pink medicine (which was not the Amoxicllian I remember so fondly as a kid). MJ hated it at first, but then we felt rewards were the best way to go, so he would get one piece of Christmas candy after he finished it. It worked well.
MJ has also enjoyed playing on the computer. We're having him practice using the mouse and a few arrow keys. Playhouse Disney online has some fun games that correlate with one of the only shows he watches (Mickey Mouse Clubhouse). We were so proud of our little guy as he was playing this intellectual stimulating as well as computer skill enhancing game.
We were having so much fun with our little guy last night (since it was Mario's last night at home before taking off for Arkansas) that we played more fun games. We revisited Follow the Leader and he learned Duck Duck Goose. Mario is concerned that MJ is too interested in music and education things so we need to focus more on sports. Hopefully, some of his Christmas gifts will help with this.
I'll have to find some cute pictures to post tomorrow.
